In choosing to pre-plan your farewell, you will be able to record your wishes and important details like burial or cremation through to the choice of venue, flowers, music, readings, and other aspects if you wish.

Exclusion from asset testing

Pre-paying all or part of your funeral service expenses helps to relieve your family of the financial burden. And pre-paid funerals up to $10,000 per person is currently excluded from asset testing (under current government policy) when assessing eligibility for a subsidy for long-term residential care for the elderly. The money is only withdrawn upon the presentation of a death certificate.
